I believe that photography has the power to captivate, to educate, to make a difference, to transport us and to destroy us.
Why does everyone love photography? It’s because it has the power to stop time, to captivate the imagination, bring back loved ones in our memories, transport us to another place and time. Make us feel like we know someone. In a word photography is magic.
Once a feat of chemistry and science photography has become accessible to all. Technology has given people the power to record their own histories, create alternate versions of themselves, helped them to dream and visit places they may not have found on their own. As a branding photographer the skills involved in creating images that communicate more than a snapshot or more than a pretty picture is still magic. It’s creating something from a few words or a feeling, it’s crafting a message in a way that your competitors are not. I’m a storyteller and the story I’m telling is yours. It’s one thing to capture events and life as things unfold, it’s another to caress light into the mood you want, frame an image so its message is clear and pull out the right expression and body language from the person in front of the camera. To me this is magic. Magic comes from trust and experimentation, it also comes from preparation.
In today's new world it's more important than ever to create magic because it combats fear and anger and desperation.
Magic allows for hope, for fun and laughter. For beauty and compassion to be the norm!
During this pandemic and the importance of staying at home, I've taken to creating images that are personal. These self-portraits are enhanced by light to create something for myself. To embrace change and explore a different side of me.
I'm also creating work that I find beautiful and meaningful. It's not directed by clients but inspired by everyday objects and light. To me this is magic!
So how I can help you create magic in this time?
